A complete website redesign for Southern Cross Language Institute, a language school in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The project included a migration from WordPress to Wix Studio, a restructured sitemap and information architecture, and a multilingual user experience designed to better serve prospective students, parents, and education partners.
The Opportunity: Connecting Audiences Across New Zealand and Japan
Southern Cross Language Institute's website promotes the English language programmes and educational opportunities offered by SCLI to audiences across both New Zealand and Japan, each with distinct information needs and user journeys.
In New Zealand, the website supports prospective host families interested in participating in the school's homestay programme.
In Japan, the primary audience includes partner schools, teachers, prospective students, and parents seeking information about studying abroad and educational opportunities in New Zealand.
The Goal: Building a Scalable Multilingual Platform
As the organisation continued to grow, there was an opportunity to rethink how information was structured, presented, and managed.
The project focused on migrating the website from WordPress to Wix Studio, redesigning the sitemap and information architecture, and creating a multilingual experience that better serves audiences across New Zealand and Japan.
A key objective was to provide a scalable platform that enables school staff to easily manage and update content without technical expertise, while supporting future programme growth and ongoing communication with students, parents, partner schools, and host families.
A multilingual Wix Studio website that combines responsive design, clear information architecture, and lightweight Rive micro animations to better serve students, parents, host families, and education partners across New Zealand and Japan.

Web Design for Southern Cross Language Institute
Designed for Long-Term Growth
The website was designed to make ongoing content updates simple and accessible for school staff.
Wix Studio repeaters were used to manage frequently updated content such as team members and programme information, while the gallery functionality allows staff to easily add, remove, and rearrange photos through a drag-and-drop interface.
To support long-term growth and search visibility, a dedicated testimonial category was implemented within the blog structure. This approach allows new student stories and reviews to be added over time while creating additional opportunities for SEO and organic search traffic.
Digital Design & Micro Animations
While maintaining a clean and professional visual design, subtle micro animations were introduced to enhance the user experience and improve engagement throughout the website.
Custom illustrations, lightweight Rive animations, and video content were created specifically for the project to support navigation, highlight key information, and add personality without distracting from the content. The result is a modern multilingual website that balances clarity, accessibility, and visual interest.
To support parents and prospective host families, information and downloadable resources were organised for easy access, while original video content showcasing Christchurch and local life helped communicate the experience of studying and living in New Zealand.
